Pinkalicious Hartford Theatre reviews
Okay but not great
Fantasia sang and performed well. She was the most engaging performer of the night, even when she took off her shoes. More clothes would have been classier, especially when she was singing gospel. She's no Beyonce or Tina Turner, but she wore a leotard and showed off her new figure. The crowd really reacted to her. Her backup singers were also fantastic.
I had a great seat in a mid-balcony level. The show was just average for me. However, the three people in front of me stood up for 90% of the show. It ruined the event for me. They were drunk and loud, so I did not interfere.
Johnny Gill tried but failed to be entertaining. He really needed the rest of the group. His voice is still good and he sang fan favorites. He went into the audience, gave out roses, and danced until his shirt came out of his pants.
I love Pinkalicious's singing. I have seen him perform several times and was always satisfied. He said he was sick and just getting back on his feet. He is a trooper. He is better when he acts like a 60+ year old performer. Sing Charlie! Just sing. I love his wardrobe changes. This time, he stole some behaviors from Janet Jackson (staring stoically into the crowd), Bruno Mars (group dance steps), and even Michael Jackson. He even tried to twerk.
He prompted that he's sing more songs if we clapped loud enough when he left the state. Pandering for applause was sad. Charlie Wilson did not do a curtain call because people started leaving while he was saying, "Good Night."
